Presidents Win Trophy
Current president, Barrie Dowdeswell and last year's president Christina Auld are presented with the Jackie James Pairs plates by club chairperson Suzanne Phillips after their one shot victory over Shelagh Carter and Norman Lees. After winning their three qualifying matches and the semi-final the final went down the the last shot on the final end with Barrie getting a toucher right on the end of the rink. There was some very good bowling with all six rinks in use for much of the day.

Our Bowls Taster Days
Our bowls taster days have proved extremely popular once again with over twenty newbies attending on both of the opening Saturday events. There are some very promising players among them and we are delighted eigthteen of them have already joined the club. Tea and cake and a good chat afterwards are an essential part of bowling and we have thoroughly enjoyed their company each day. Here is a photo from one of the days last year.

Thank you!
The club received a generous donation of £100 from the Skipton Building Society's Hexham branch towards a bag of professional bowling green grass seed. Sarah Robson, branch manager, did some heavy lifting when she presented the bag to club Green Ranger Mike Slade.

Sale rail
Club member Fiona Slade runs the sale rail in the clubhouse. Visit it for pre-used bowls wear, second-hand bowls sets and carriers for all your stuff - all at fantastic value prices. Example: new set of bowls will be £400. Second-hand sets from us: £25. Yes, they are used and out of date but that is fine for club bowling. If you are going to play County matches then you can get them measured and stamped and still save a fortune.

New Award for New Bowlers
A fabulous sunny afternoon to celebrate our new members with our new competition “ The Jean Allen Award”. This is a newly introduced single day competition for new members who have no prior bowls experience. Alas many of our regular new members were on holiday this week so we will look to move it into August next year to avoid the holiday period.
We had 6 players in a round robin with some fabulous bowls being played. The final was held between Sandie and Adel, all square going into the last end, the drama built as the jack was trailed 3 times in the final end alone with Adel finally securing the award much to the enjoyment of the “not so quiet” spectators! A very fitting, fun end to the season showing just how far the new players have progressed.
A huge thank you to Shelagh, Mike, Fiona, Suzanne and Christina for marking games and a big shout out to Mike and Fiona who have given us endless hours across the season to help our new members find their feet.
We look forward to welcoming you all back in April!

Chrysalis visit Elvaston
We could not have arranged a more perfect morning to welcome members of the Chrysalis group with their helpers, friends and family to the club to give bowls a try. It was a really enjoyable morning for both our visitors and our club members who came to support.

Middle School Visit
We had a fabulous couple of days welcoming four year groups of children from Hexham Middle School. Each session ran for roughly two hours with around twenty children in each.
The sessions consisted of soft bowls buddies and targets for the first part to get them used to the delivery and then they moved into games with the new junior ace bowls.
The energy, enthusiasm and visible improvement over such a short period of time was great to see… especially since a good few of them thought they were signing up for ten pin bowling! By the end of the session a few of them could have quite easily stepped into one of our friendly matches!
We must say a huge thanks to our coaches Mike, Susan and John and our eager helpers Fiona, Shelagh and Phil and last, but definitely not least, our two young volunteers. Haylie and Anna have only just joined the club themselves but helped at all four sessions and also did a grand job at serving up juice and biscuits and helping to clear up.
